Allergy medicine: Types and alternatives
Loratadine is an allergy medicine that is offered under the brand names Claritin and others. Allergy rhinitis and hives are examples of this. It is also available in a combination with the decongestant pseudoephedrine, known as loratadine/pseudoephedrine. It is administered orally.
Levocetirizine, marketed under the trade names Xyzal and others, is a second-generation antihistamine used to treat allergic rhinitis and long-term hives of unknown aetiology. It has a lower sedative effect than previous antihistamines. It is administered orally.
Xyzal is a medicine of the Antihistamines, 2nd Generation class. It is uncertain if Xyzal is safe and effective in children younger than six months old. Claritin, on the other hand, is a prescription drug that is used to treat hay fever and other upper respiratory allergies. Claritin can be used alone or in conjunction with other medications. Claritin is an antihistamine medication. Claritin is neither safe nor effective in children under the age of two.
Xyzal can cause significant side effects such as increased allergy or urticaria symptoms, painful or difficult urination, little or no urine, lightheadedness, fever, ear discomfort or fullness, difficulty hearing, ear discharge, and fussiness in children. Claritin, on the other hand, has the following most frequent adverse effects: headache, feeling sleepy or drowsy, stomach discomfort, vomiting, dry mouth, and feeling agitated or hyperactive.
